All Set West FAQs

All Set West is a package of support, designed to help people living in the West of England to access careers in scripted Film and TV production. We do this by providing free access to training, information, connections, work placements and networks.

All Set West is for anyone living in the West of England who is starting out in – or keen to find out more about – a career in scripted Film and TV production. By ‘West of England’, we mean the local authorities of Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset (BANES), North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Very soon, we’ll be opening free registration for All Set West Membership. Once you’re a member, you’ll have access to the All Set West Hub which has a range of information to help you get started – details of up-to-date opportunities, local events and useful resources – all in one place to help you better understand the working world of scripted film/TV production. Register your details here to be notified as soon as Membership goes live.

Please also check out our All Set West Training here.

Yes! Our All Set West Training is a free course delivered over five weeks at The Bottle Yard Studios. We help tool you up with the skills and knowledge needed for an on-set career in scripted Film and TV. Together we demystify the world of scripted production and get you ‘set ready’ for entry level roles in the industry.

Our motivation with All Set West is to increase representation. If you are based in the West of England and from a community that is currently underrepresented in the industry then our training is for you. You don’t need a degree or previous experience to apply, just a willingness to learn!

The course focuses on confidence-building, set etiquette and work-readiness, communication skills and teamwork, wellbeing and resilience, as well as digital and financial literacy and how to find work as a freelancer. Check out full details here.

The West of England is more popular than ever to the producers and filmmakers creating scripted film and TV content. Shows like The Outlaws, Rivals and Boarders film all year round at The Bottle Yard Studios and on location supported by the region’s Film Offices. We know that local diverse talent have been struggling to access entry positions for the types of roles being created.

We put underrepresented talent forward, connecting production teams and industry opportunities with local talent. Through collaboration we’re opening up opportunities to grow and work in an industry that’s telling more stories than ever and embarking on a new chapter.

Even when you have a few credits under your belt, it can still be tough to find work as a freelancer in Film and TV production. Getting out there and meeting people is often the best way to learn about new opportunities. By registering free to become an All Set West Member, you can view upcoming events, including networking for local crew. We recommend that you also list yourself on the free Filming in England Crew Directory.
